Tragic Disappearance of British Tourist: Sibling Sees Clue Pointing to Foul Play
The sister of a British tourist found dead in the sea off Thailand believes foul play could be involved in her brother’s death. Regan Kelly, 28, vanished in the early hours of January 3 and his body was later found nude in the water off Patong beach. His sister, Laurie Blackall, remains determined to uncover the truth.
Regan Kelly’s Last Moments
Regan, a building surveyor from Selsdon, South London, had traveled to Thailand’s popular island, Phuket, plans to spend a month exploring the paradise island. On the night of January 2, he left a bar with a friend after an altercation that started when someone provoked him.
Regan and his friend headed back to their accommodation at the Mad Monkey Hostel. According to Laurie, they had a brief conflict after the incident at the club, but Regan was described as professional and unlikely to engage in any trouble.
Laurie points to CCTV footage showing a man in Regan’s hostel room during the disagreement. She claims the man also comforted Regan outside before leaving. Laurie hopes this man could provide information on Regan’s final hours.
Mysterious Circumstances Surrounding Regan’s Disappearance
Regan was last spotted on CCTV leaving the hostel. A subsequent camera placing near the beach captured him running, but the crucial CCTV on the beach itself was non-functional due to damage from a sunbed fire.
According to Laurie, the man who discovered Regan’s body said he was stunned to find him naked, except for a single sock. This detail perplexes Laurie, considering Regan’s spiritual practices.
Laurie Blackall, who flew to Thailand to understand what happened to her brother, feels the police investigation may have overlooked potential foul play.
Appeal to the Public
Laurie is asking anyone who may have information, particularly the man seen consoling her brother and anyone on the beach near the Graceland Resort during that night, to come forward. She believes they might hold the key to uncovering the truth.
Laurie expressed, “I’m just asking him to please come forward as it would just be nice to speak. It would be nice to speak to anybody that had spoken to him or anybody that was on the beach that night near the Graceland Resort.”
She shared contact details: email [email protected] or WhatsApp 07592 368604.
Law Enforcement’s Perspective
Police have not publicly disclosed the nature of their investigation, considering it ongoing. In the initial statements, they dismissed the death as accidental drowning. However, Laurie and her family are convinced that further inquiry is warranted.
“We don’t know how long Regan was on the beach, where he went on the beach,” shared Laurie. “There was a second camera further up, and a tourist policeman went up there to check it and said it was damaged even though it was wired up. It just felt very convenient that these cameras weren’t working.”
