Singapore Hosts Historic World Para Swimming Championships with Dynamic Logo and Mascot

Singapore Prepares to Host Historic 2025 World Para Swimming Championships

The Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) and World Para Swimming (WPS) have unveiled the dynamic logo and mascot for the Singapore 2025 World Para Swimming Championships. The event, set to take place from September 21 to 27, 2025, will be a landmark in the world of Para swimming, making history as the first World Para Swimming Championships held in Asia.

A Symbol of Progress and Inspiration

The logo, featuring a vibrant red dot encircled by ripples, symbolizes Singapore’s journey from a small nation to a global leader. The red dot represents Singapore as the heart of this international gathering of Para swimmers. Meanwhile, the ripples signify the waves of inspiration these athletes create. Through this design, the logo encapsulates the message of overcoming challenges, pushing boundaries, and striving for greatness.

Meet Ah Dot: The Mascot Embodies Adaptability

Named “Ah Dot,” the official mascot is inspired by Singapore’s “Little Red Dot” identity, incorporating the nation’s warmth and cultural heritage. Ah Dot embodies adaptability, resilience, and growth, reflecting the transformative power of Para athletes. The ripples emanating from Ah Dot symbolize the ripples of change created by their achievements.

The name “Ah Dot” resonates with Singapore’s local charm and multicultural identity, making the mascot relatable to both locals and international visitors. It invites everyone to support and celebrate Para athletes.

Collaborative Creativity

The dynamic logo and mascot were crafted in collaboration with Studio Ensemble, a local creative studio. This partnership highlights the significance of harnessing local talent to create memorable and meaningful symbols for an international event. Studio Ensemble’s contribution ensures that the spirit of Singapore is reflected in every detail of the Championships.

Embracing Values Through the Logo and Mascot

Kelly Fan, Executive Director of the SDSC, expressed the organization’s hope that the logo and mascot will encourage the Singaporean and global communities to embrace Para athletes’ stories and values: courage, determination, inspiration, and equality.

“Through this logo and mascot, we hope to encourage the Singaporean and global community to embrace the stories of our Para athletes and the values they represent – courage, determination, inspiration and equality.”Kelly Fan, Executive Director of the SDSC.

Singapore Makes History

In February 2024, the SDSC announced that Singapore would host the 12th World Para Swimming Championships. This event, considered the peak of Para swimming outside the Paralympic Games, signifies a significant milestone. The Championships will take place at the OCBC Aquatic Centre, marking the first time the event is held in Asia.

Singapore will further break records by becoming the first country to host both the World Para Swimming Championships and the World Aquatics Championships in the same year. Both events are part of the SG60 celebrations, recognizing the nation’s 60th anniversary.

Public Engagement and Ticket Sales

The public was given an early glimpse of the Championships’ logo and mascot at the SDSC’s annual disability sports roadshow at the Istana Open House. Attendees learned about the history of disability sports in Singapore, celebrated its changemakers, and even had the opportunity to try out disability sports and purchase exclusive merchandise. Ticket sales launched at the same event with discounts available until March 31, 2025.

Craig Nicholson, Head of World Para Swimming, expressed excitement about the launch of the logo and mascot, inviting fans to witness top Para swimmers in action. He noted that the event “will leave an important legacy to our sport as the first World Championships to take place in Asia,” underscoring the significance of the Championships for Para swimming globally.
