after a year away from the professional volleyball scene, Shin Young-cheol, a seasoned veteran with a proven track record, has been named the new head coach of the OK Savings Bank volleyball team. This appointment follows the resignation of Ogino Massage, who stepped down after a disappointing season.

OK Savings Bank Pins Hopes on Shin’s Rebuilding Expertise
OK Savings Bank officially announced the appointment, stating that Shin young-cheol was selected based on his demonstrated ability to revitalize and rebuild teams. The association is confident that his leadership will bring about a positive change.

Shin Young-cheol brings a wealth of experiance to the role, having previously coached LIG Insurance (now KB Insurance), Korean Air, KEPCO, and Woori Card. Known as a research leader,
Shin has consistently led data-driven teams to postseason appearances,earning him the moniker spring volleyball evangelist.
His strategic approach emphasizes data analysis to optimize player performance and team tactics, a methodology increasingly adopted across professional sports.

From Player to Coach: A Legacy of Excellence
Before his coaching career, Shin young-cheol was a celebrated setter for the national volleyball team, earning accolades such as the Best Setter Award
in the World League. His experience as a player at the highest level provides him with a unique outlook and understanding of the game.

The appointment comes after a challenging season for the OK Savings Bank volleyball team, which finished at the bottom of the league standings. An official from the team acknowledged the need for change, stating that they reviewed several candidates to find a manager capable of turning the team around.

Ogino’s Departure: A Look Back at His Tenure
Ogino Massage, the previous head coach, resigned in May 2023, taking responsibility for the team’s poor performance. Ogino, a respected figure in Japanese volleyball, had previously led Santori Sunverz and Kuromi Siki to championships.He is credited with introducing new training methods and strengthening the team’s blocking and digging systems.

Despite his contributions, the team struggled in the recent season due to issues with a new foreign player and injuries to key players.
