Samsung presents its new smartphone, the Galaxy Z Trifold. Its bi-foldable 10-inch display is said to be particularly suitable for mobile working and watching videos. The model will be available in South Korea in December – so far there is no word on a market launch in Switzerland.
Samsung is expanding its foldable portfolio with the new Galaxy Z Trifold. As the South Korean company reports, it can be folded twice. When folded, the model has the usual smartphone format. However, when opened it becomes a 10-inch display in tablet format. According to Samsung, it is the largest display on a Galaxy model to date.
When open, the model can be folded inwards with two hinges of different sizes. For further protection, an integrated alarm function also warns users if their smartphone has been folded incorrectly.
According to the announcement, the Galaxy Z Trifold weighs 309 grams, offers 512 gigabytes of storage space and has a battery capacity of 5600 milliamp hours. When unfolded, the model is 3.9 millimeters thick at its thinnest point and 12.9 millimeters thick when folded.
Workspace and AI functions
The opened Galaxy Z Trifold is said to be particularly suitable for watching films or series. According to Samsung, the display is equivalent to the area of āāthree 6.5-inch smartphones. These could also be used individually, for example to display three different apps next to each other in portrait format. Individual adjustment of the multi-window display is also possible.
Users can now also pair the Trifold with the Samsung Dex desktop function. According to Samsung, this allows you to set up a work environment with up to four desktops, each of which can run five apps at the same time. External screens could also be connected and a mouse and keyboard connected to them.
With the integrated Galaxy AI, functions such as the photo assistant, generative editing or Sketch to Image can also be used. The Gemini Live voice assistant has been expanded with a multimodal AI that is intended to understand what users see, say or do. This reportedly enables contextual questions and answers as well as real-time support through screen or camera sharing.
Availability
The Galaxy Z Trifold will be available in South Korea from December 12, 2025. According to the company’s South Korean website, it will be available there for 3,590,400 won (the equivalent of about 1,964 Swiss francs). The market launch in other countries such as China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the USA is to follow. It is not yet known whether the model will also be available in Switzerland.
Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in July and followed up with its Enterprise Edition a month later. Read more about it here.
