On Tuesday, during a vote on the advice of motion for the modification of the city’s town planning regulations, all the municipal councilors said they were in favor of it, with the exception of the elected official of Limoilou, Jackie Smith.

This modification will allow young ASL athletes to make noise and enjoy the atmosphere during their matches, such as students from all other schools in the territory.

Elected officials highlighted the importance of sport among young people and their desire to authorize the holding of matches in a festive atmosphere. “I am happy that we are carrying this collective voice to meet the needs of young people and to rise and arrive with a solution,” said the executive advisor Marie-Pierre Boucher.

Even if she finds “absurd” the prohibition of noise, Jackie Smith voted against, because she fears “a previous one” where the result of a referendum is “dismissed”.

Present at the Town Hall, the director general of ASL, Ann Webber, expressed itself briefly after the vote. “We are very encouraged to see that the city council was almost unanimous with regard to the well-being of young people versus sport. We follow the process closely, we are waiting for the rest. ”

No negotiations

In parallel, the mayor of Quebec said no to the neighbors who would like to negotiate a adjoining solution for the holding of matches with noise at ASL.

“No, we don’t negotiate,” said Bruno Marchand. They had their chance. There were negotiations that have been made, especially with Mme [Véronique] Dallaire, with the school. And at some point, they withdrew. They said: “We want a referendum”. The answer, now, is: “We harmonize”. “

Opening

Last Tuesday, following the referendum where the co-owners’ co-owners of the condos of the Boisée rivet voted to maintain the ban on noise, the latter had indicated that they are open to the holding of a certain number of activities with noise in the field neighboring their condominium. On the same day, the mayor had announced his intention to make the old regulation lapsed.

He quickly implemented his intention announced to find a “lasting” solution.

Marie-Sophie Beaudoin, resident of the condos on the bank, near the Saint-Louis academy, came to express to the municipal council that the neighbors of the secondary school fear the sound overflows during private events.
