RTÉ Choice Music Prize Live Event: Celebrating the Best in Irish Music
The RTÉ Choice Music Prize, entering its 20th year, promises another electrifying celebration of Irish music with a high-profile live event in Dublin this March. This annual celebration shines a spotlight on the best in recorded Irish music, where renowned acts will be recognized and celebrated.
Lineup Announced for March 6 Event
The lineup features a talented array of artists including A Lazarus Soul, Curtesy, Orla Gartland, NewDad, and Niamh Regan. These performers will bring their unique sounds to the stage at Vicar Street on March 6.
Joining them on the night will be Róis, Silverbacks, and SPRINTS. However, due to their touring commitments, Fontaines D.C. and Kneecap will sadly be absent from the festivities.
Taking the Stage in Vicar Street
The event will take place in Vicar Street, a historic venue known for its vibrant live music scene. The night will be broadcast live on RTÉ 2FM as a special four-hour extended show from 7 to 11 pm, with Beta Da Silva leading the musical journey.
A special TV show will also air on RTÉ Two, Sunday, March 13, giving viewers at home the chance to witness the excitement of the evening.
Lauding the Best in Irish Music
The winning album will be announced at the live event, chosen from a shortlist of ten by a panel of eleven Irish music media professionals and industry experts. The shortlisted albums cover a wide range of genres, reflecting the diverse musical landscape of Ireland today.

Classic Irish Album: A Timeless Tune
The Classic Irish Album will be announced in a future segment on the Will Leahy Show on RTÉ Gold next month. Listen as it is played in full, followed by a comprehensive feature on Dan Hegarty’s show, diving into the history and cultural significance of this enduring piece of Irish music.
Awards and Cash Prizes
In addition to the Irish Album of the Year, which comes with a €10,000 prize, all shortlisted acts will receive a specially commissioned award. The prize fund is generously supported by The Irish Music Rights Organization (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA).
Beyond the Album of the Year, the live event will also feature the presentation of several other esteemed awards, including the Irish Song of the Year 2024, which will be announced by Tracy Clifford.
