[서울=뉴시스] Reporter Kang Se -hoon and Kim Tae -yeon, an intern reporter = A humanoid robot that can open and organize laundry by the US artificial intelligence company is gathering a lot of attention.
According to the Brazilian media G1 on the 16th (local time), the American artificial intelligence (AI) robot company ‘Figure’ announced that the humanoid robot ‘Helix’ succeeded in autonomously folding the laundry.
This is the first case of humanoid robots to fold the laundry independently, and it is noteworthy in that it has proven to be cognitive, judgment, and recovery ability beyond simple repetitive actions.
Experts have evaluated that humanoid robots have expanded the possibility of utilizing domestic labor beyond the industrial logistics sector.
The clothes of the laundry are everyday and ordinary for humans, but experts say that it is one of the most demanding tasks for the robot.
This is because the fabric has no fixed form and is easily crumpled or tangled, so the result varies depending on the location or force control. In addition, if the finger slides slightly, the fabric may not be clumped or folded properly.
The figure said, “The cloth, such as clothes and towels, has hundreds of unpredictable deformation, so it is impossible to memorize simple patterns.”
In this experiment, Helix has successfully selected one from a pile of towel and changes the folding method according to the start.
In addition, if several times were wrongly picked up at once, the ability to restore the extra was back in place. It is an example of the fact that adaptive behavior according to the situation is not done, not simply performing repetitive tasks.
In addition to folding clothes, the robot is known to be able to improve its interaction with people, make eye contact, catch the eye, and use gestures learned to communicate with people.
