Roberto Carlos admits he is not the best Real Madrid left of all time. Carlos takes his hat off to his successor, Marcelo!

Roberto Carlos played for Real Madrid in 1996-2007. In his era, Carlos was famous as a left back who ran fast and shot hard.

Roberto Carlos made 527 appearances for Real Madrid. He scored 69 goals and recorded 117 assists.

Carlos also presented 13 championship titles. However, when asked whether he was Real Madrid’s best left-back of all time, Carlos actually mentioned Marcelo!

“Marcelo is the best left-back in the history of Real Madrid,” he explained on the Obi One Podcast, a podcast owned by Chelsea legend, John Obi Mikel.

“Marcelo can do everything. He is not only good at defending, but can attack with dribbles and score goals,” he continued.

Marcelo strengthened Real Madrid from 2007-2022. Marcelo made a total of 546 appearances, scoring 38 goals and contributing 104 assists.

Marcelo presented 24 trophies. Interestingly, Roberto Carlos was the person who convinced Marcelo to join Real Madrid, then Marcelo succeeded in becoming his successor.

“I’m the one who brought him to Real Madrid,” concluded Carlos with a smile.
