After battling a rare form of infection that led to multiple amputations,Virginia is now on the path to recovery, thanks to the overwhelming support of her community. Her story highlights the power of human connection and the importance of accessible healthcare.

A Community United: Montemurlo’s Outpouring of Support

The community of montemurlo, where Virginia has close family ties, has rallied around her, providing both emotional and financial assistance. Last weekend, Virginia visited Montemurlo to express her gratitude to those who have helped her acquire the essential prosthesis needed to regain her independence and lead a fulfilling life.

In times of crisis, communities often come together to support their own. According to a recent study by the National Philanthropic Trust, individual giving in the United States reached $324.10 billion in 2023,demonstrating the widespread desire to help those in need. Virginia’s story is a testament to this spirit of generosity.

“It was nice and moving to see how our community, once again, managed to join to help others. I thank all those who have brought their contribution and support to the initiative. Montemurlo really shows that they have a big heart.”

from Tragedy to Triumph: Virginia’s Inspiring Progress

In April 2024, Virginia’s life took an unexpected turn when she contracted a severe infection, resulting in the amputation of her legs below the knees, her left forearm, and the fingers of her right hand. Despite spending six months in the hospital, enduring intensive care and rehabilitation, Virginia never lost her determination to live and embrace her children.

Now, with the aid of prosthetics, Virginia has emerged from the wheelchair that accompanied her departure from the hospital. Her journey is a powerful reminder of the human spirit’s capacity to overcome even the most daunting challenges.

Acts of kindness: Key Moments of Support

During her visit to Oste, Virginia personally thanked the Bacciottini Group, especially Pamela, Mirka, Silvano, Valdemaro Bacciottini, and Giacomo Gori, for their generous donation of €5,000 towards the purchase of her prostheses. She also attended an aperitif at the Circolo Nuova Europa, the venue where a fundraising campaign for her was launched last November.

The weekend culminated in a large lunch at the misericordia di Oste, attended by over 150 people. The event, made possible by the collaboration of numerous local businesses, raised an impressive €6,500.

The Road Ahead: A Call for Continued Support

While Virginia has made important progress, her journey is far from over. She now requires a state-of-the-art prosthesis, connected to nerve endings, which comes at a cost of €100,000. This advanced technology would greatly enhance her mobility and quality of life.

“Virginia is a strong and proactive woman who wants to go back to working and fully living her life… The next step that Virginia must take is the purchase of a latest generation prosthesis, connected to nerve endings, which has a cost of 100mila euro.Montemurlo has a big heart and also showed it yesterday. As a Circolo Nuova Europe we will continue to commit ourselves to support Virginia.”
Fabrizio Botarelli, city councilor and partner of the New Europe Circle
