The color Wild Blue was created as a prototype in the early development phase of the collaboration between PRS and John Mayer. Since the launch of the Silver Sky in 2018, this livery has been waiting to be released. The limited edition is now coming onto the market for the first time.
The guitar is the first Silver Sky model with a color-coordinated headstock. This special feature sets it apart from previous series models. Previous limited editions such as Nebula and Lunar Ice omitted this detail.
The body is made of alder and has a flat top. The maple neck is connected to the body using a bolt-on method. The scale length is 25.5 inches, which is the Fender standard.
The rosewood fingerboard has a radius of 7.25 inches. The PRS-typical small bird inlays serve as fingerboard inlays. The 22 frets are equipped with PRS Medium Fret Wire.

Pickups and electronics
The guitar is equipped with three 635JM single-coil pickups. These were developed specifically for John Mayer. According to PRS, they deliver a full, warm sound with musical highs that don’t sound shrill or harsh.
The circuit includes a volume control and two tone controls. A 5-way switch allows different pickup combinations. The controls correspond to the classic Stratocaster layout.
Hardware und Tremolo
The PRS Steel Tremolo is based on a classic design. It has been updated with Gen III Knife-Edge screws and the in-house tremolo arm system. The mechanics are in vintage style and have the PRS locking system.
All metal parts are made of nickel. The saddle is made of bone. The guitar is strung with PRS Signature strings measuring 10-46 ex works.
Target group and area of application
The instrument is aimed at guitarists looking for the sound and feel of a classic bolt-on guitar with modern improvements. The Silver Sky series appeals to players from blues, pop, rock and singer-songwriter areas.
Collectors may also be interested. The previous limited models Nebula, Lunar Ice and Dead Spec sold out quickly. They are now traded at significantly higher prices on the used market.

The guitar will be released in 2026 in a worldwide edition of 1,000 pieces. Europe will receive 250 copies, 100 of which are intended for Germany and Austria. The first models are expected in February.
