Isilda Sousa was enjoying the life that the new social center gave to her neighborhood. “I liked seeing them clean everything up”, says the 75-year-old resident, who lives right in front of the building that, on April 25th, a movement of people occupied, and which had been unoccupied for over 15 years. Isilda Sousa frequented the building, which is located on Rua Bartolomeu Costa, in her childhood and said she preferred to have a space there for the community rather than a condominium, as it is planned. “The center should be supported by all the inhabitants so that we can have some culture in the neighborhood”, she argued.
