Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, a story celebrated for its passion, secrets, and enduring love, has arrived in Prague, captivating audiences wiht its grandeur and emotional depth. This production, staged by Broadway Entertainment Group, brings a fresh perspective to the classic narrative set in the late 19th-century Paris Opera House [[2]].

The musical follows Christine Daaé, a young soprano who becomes the object of obsession for the enigmatic phantom.With a company of 100 international actors, musicians, and crew members, adorned in over 230 costumes, this production promises a cultural experience that transcends expectations.

Unveiling the Phantom’s World

The story unfolds with an auction at the Paris Opera, featuring the iconic chandelier, a symbol of past tragedies. The narrative then transports the audience to a time when the opera house is preparing for a new production. When the lead soprano, Carlotta, abruptly leaves, Christine, a talented newcomer, seizes the possibility, enchanting everyone with her voice.

Christine believes her musical mentor is a mysterious Angel of Music, unaware that it is the Phantom, a disfigured genius living beneath the opera house. obsessed with Christine, the Phantom manipulates events to make her a star, terrorizing the theater’s management with demands and threats. The situation escalates when he abducts Christine to his underground lair, revealing his tragic past and disfigured appearance.

While initially fascinated by his genius, Christine grows fearful of his manipulative nature. As her relationship with raoul deepens, the Phantom’s jealousy intensifies, leading to drastic actions. The musical explores themes of love, obsession, and the complexities of inner beauty.

The musical is performed in English with czech subtitles projected on large screens. The premiere was an unforgettable theatrical experience, highlighting the timelessness of the work. The cast, including Nadim naaman, expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to perform in Prague.

The premiere attracted numerous Czech celebrities, showcasing a diverse range of fashion choices among the audience. The only minor drawback was the limited refreshment options during intermission,leading to long queues.

Due to high demand, the initial run of 10 performances has been extended to 23, running from March 19th to April 6th. Ticket prices range from 990 to 2990 crowns. Prague is experiencing a cultural peak this spring with The Phantom of the Opera.
