Congress will intensify its protest against BJP workers blocking UDF candidate Ramesh Pisharati during the Palakkad election campaign. While the BJP will justify the ban for making anti-women remarks, the Congress will hold a torch-lit demonstration in protest against the incident.
Palakkad: Congress to intensify protest in the event of BJP workers blocking UDF candidate Ramesh Pisharati during the election campaign in Palakkad. A morning torchlight demonstration will be held in the city this morning. At the same time, the BJP’s explanation is that the women stopped Pisharati for making anti-women remarks. Palakkad LDF candidate NMR Razak came to the stage in solidarity with Ramesh Pisharati. The incident of Pisharadi being stopped by BJP workers is not in keeping with the culture of Palakkad. NMR Razak stated that this is a democratic country and everyone has the right to ask for their vote.
Ramesh Pisharadi was stopped by BJP workers at Vadakantara during his Palakkad candidate tour. He described the incident as he was walking towards a small temple behind the North Temple. While walking, a light blue skinned woman suddenly came in and responded angrily. They shouted that they would not let anyone pass you through. Being a woman, she behaved with care. They called out and said that this is BJP’s stronghold and no one else needs to ask for votes here. Pisharadi responded that this is completely anti-democratic. Pisharadi was stopped by a group of BJP workers led by BJP councilor Sindhu Rajan.
Defended by Sobha Surendran
NDA candidate Shobha Surendran came forward to defend the incident of BJP workers blocking Ramesh Pisharati. Shobha Surendran claimed that Pisharati was stopped because of his anti-women remarks. Shobha explained that Pisharati said that if women are tortured, it is a personal matter and this cannot be accepted. Shobha Surendran said that the UDF candidate’s approach is to stand with the hunter and that is why the mothers protested.
