Zohran Mamdani won’t be sworn in as New York’s socialist mayor for another two months, but the bidding war is already beginning for companies nervously eyeing the exits. “Tennessee is open for business,” Gov. Bill Lee said in a video posted online late last week. “And our Department of Economic and Community Development is ready to help you make a move right now.”
Nashville is looking more homey all the time, at least as a place to do business. This month the Tax Foundation released its annual state competitiveness index, and Tennessee won the most-improved player awardrising 30 spots over the past six years to No. 8 overall. New York was dead last.
