The North Frisian chimney sweeps‘ New Year’s Eve fundraising campaign has been running since 2009.

At their traditional New Year’s Eve fundraising campaign, the North Frisian chimney sweeps in Föhr (North Friesland district) collected around 22,500 euros. This is what master chimney sweep Matthias Rugullis from Lütjenholm says. The money goes to the Wilhelminen Hospice in Niebüll. According to the company, it is the largest donation amount since the campaign was launched in 2009. On New Year’s Eve morning, the chimney sweeps traditionally take the ferry to the North Sea island and, dressed in their black outfits and often covered in soot, collect money for the Wilhelminen Hospice. They will be accompanied by, among others, the band “policia de samba”.

130,000 euros in donations since 2009 for the Wilhelminen Hospice

“The ferry gets busier every year, the samba band gets bigger every year. There are a lot of chimney sweeps there who support it and collect money. We have a friendly connection and for us it’s now just part of the year,” says leader Tim Kliem. According to the organizers, around 130,000 euros have been raised for the hospice in Niebüll since 2009.
