by Archynetys World Desk

Mango founder Isak Andić, whose fortune was estimated at more than 4 billion euros, died on December 14, 2024 during a mountain hike on Montserrat, near Barcelona. According to the first version of events provided by his company, the 71-year-old businessman slipped on one of the trails and fell 150 meters into a ravine near the Salnitre Caves. Only his eldest son Jonathan was with him at the time. He claimed to have heard a fall but insisted he saw nothing because he was walking a few steps ahead of his father. It was Jonathan who alerted the emergency services.

An initial investigation was opened immediately after the death, but was closed in January this year because no evidence of foul play was found. Less than two months later, however, the investigation was reopened: the Catalan police (Mossos d’Esquadra) did not rule out a possible murder. Jonathan’s phone, among other things, is thoroughly examined to analyze his exact location on the day in question.

“Tense” relationship

According to the Spanish newspaper The Country Jonathan’s testimony contains several contradictions. The police state that his statement contains “gray areas” and is not consistent with the findings at the scene. In addition, the testimony of Estefania Knuth, Isak Andić’s partner, would show that the relationship between father and son was “strained”.
