The Fortuny nightclub, the emblematic Madrid venue that celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio have chosen to spend their nights in the capital … or Sylvester Stallone, is now in Asturian hands. The room, which belonged to businessman Javier Merino since 1997, has become part of the Paraguas group, which has not yet specified what its project will be for this mansion in Chamberí for which they have paid 16 million euros.
Mar Flores’ ex-husband had managed to turn this space into a reference center for the nightlife of Madrid’s jet set and it was the favorite of politicians, singers and international film stars. Although Sandro Silva and Marta Seco, the businessmen of the Paraguas group, acquired the property in 2022, it was not until this month that the nightclub closed definitively, pending now what its owners, who have recently converted the emblematic Metrópoli building on Gran Vía into a private club in the purest British style, decide to do with it.
The Paraguas group, active since 2004, has nearly two thousand employees who work in the restaurants El Paraguas, Ten con Ten, Ultramarinos Quintín, Amazónico, The Jungle Jazz Club, Numa Pompilio, Aarde and Origen. Last January they also announced that sooner rather than later they will finally have an establishment in Oviedo, as they have acquired the building on San Francisco Street where the historic Logos restaurant was once located.
