Shane Lowry managed two birdies in the last seven holes to finish under par after his first round at the Houston Open in Texas.
The Offaly man managed a 71 after mixing an earlier birdie on the 12th hole – his third – with bogeys on the 13th and 2nd holes.
It leaves him on one under, which was good enough for a tie for 25th as he walked off the course, with only around half of the field having started their rounds.
Sam Burns, of the United States, and England’s Paul Waring share the lead on five under par, a stroke clear of the chasing pack.
Séamus Power is due to start his round at around 5:45pm Irish time, having received a late call up for the event after a raft of late withdrawals, including that of world number one Scottie Scheffler.
