Delmastro case, Nordio: “I know little about the matter, of course he will clarify”

“But look, on my word of honour, until yesterday I was so busy, as you well know, with this referendum that this matter came to me completely unexpectedly, I didn’t even know what it was about. But I read the first statements from both my colleague Delmastroand of President Meloni. I’m sure he will be able to clarify. You know, going to dinner in a restaurant – if I understand correctly – going to dinner in a restaurant means you can’t ask for the owner’s identity card. I will have shaken ten thousand hands during this election campaign period, I wouldn’t want it to one day come out that I’m hugging a mafioso, it could even have happened…”. The Minister of Justice says so Carlo Nordio on Sky Tg24. But what if he creates a company and is faced with someone 18 years old who he doesn’t know and pays in cash? “Well, look – he adds – I don’t even know what the terms of this company are on this matter because, I repeat, until yesterday I was only involved, as you well know, with the referendum”. This matter, Nordio continues, “will certainly be clarified, I believe. I have read that the anti-mafia will also deal with it and therefore it will be clarified. But knowing Andrea Delmastro, I can think anything about him, perhaps some excess in communication, but certainly not that he has, I’m not saying contiguities, but also mafia sympathies or mafia knowledge. Precisely because even when we talk to each other, he is, I can say, the most firm… Well, I would be a little more sure about certain things even towards some… Of 41 bis himself, for example. He, along with many colleagues in the majority, is, let’s say, the firmest supporter of all the measures against the mafia. So if there is really one person who cannot be suspected of sympathies, but not even of the slightest contiguity, let’s call it casual, that’s Delmastro.”
