Israeli Hostage Released After 477 Days
In a moment of profound relief and joy, Naama Levy, a freed Israeli hostage, expresses her deepest gratitude for the strength she drew from fellow captives during her captivity in Gaza.
Journey Through Captivity
Levy, 20, was among four female Israeli soldiers released as part of a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas. She had been kidnapped by Hamas during the violent attacks on October 7, 2023.
A Message of Gratitude
“After 477 days I am finally home. I am secure and protected, and surrounded by family and friends,” Levy posted on Instagram on Tuesday. She reflected on her ordeal, stating, “I feel better with each day that passes.”
“[Her captors] were mostly alone, then I was in captivity with my friends, observers, and civilians who gave me hope and strength,” Levy emphasized. “It is important for me to thank the IDF fighters and all the Israeli people. I saw how you were fighting for me when I was captive. Thank you all, I love you.”
Mother’s Heartwarming Testimony
“For her, time was running out,” her mother, Ayelet Levy Schachar, said at the time. She described her daughter as “a very fun-loving girl.”
“When she comes back, she will make the world a better place,” Levy Schachar added.
