IR-2026-04SP, January 9, 2026
WASHINGTON — Taxpayers could benefit from new deductions that could reduce taxable income and increase refunds owed. The Big, Beautiful Bill Act, passed by Congress in July 2025, can have a significant impact on federal taxes, credits and deductions. The legislation includes four important provisions for individual taxpayers: the “senior deduction,” the “tip tax exemption,” the “overtime tax exemption,” and the “auto loan interest tax exemption.” Taxpayers claiming these deductions should use Schedule 1-A and consult the corresponding instructions.
