Bisnis.comJAKARTA — Apple is reportedly preparing the next generation of the iPhone Air, called the iPhone Air 2, with a focus on improving battery life and the camera system.
Launching the GSM Arena page on Sunday (11/1/2026) the latest generation iPhone Air also has the potential to come with a dual camera configuration, including an ultrawide lens. Furthermore, the latest rumors from technology media The Elec reveal that the iPhone Air 2 is expected to adopt the new CoE (Chip on Encapsulant) screen technology.
CoE technology is claimed to be able to make the screen module thinner while improving readability in sunlight. With this efficiency, the screen does not need to increase the brightness level aggressively, so power consumption can be reduced.
Apart from that, the thinner screen design also opens up the opportunity to provide additional internal space which can be used for a larger battery capacity. However, all this information is still rumors and has not received official confirmation from Apple.
Previously in November, reports circulated that Apple had postponed the launch of the iPhone Air 2 until spring 2027 following the sales performance of the iPhone Air which did not meet expectations.
However, the latest information from tipster Fixed Focus Digital on the Weibo platform states that the iPhone Air 2 will actually be introduced at Apple’s annual iPhone launch event in September 2026, along with other iPhone models.
In the same report, Fixed Focus Digital also revealed that the iPhone 17e has entered the mass production stage and is scheduled to launch next spring.
Previously, Apple was expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Fold at a major event in September 2026, while the second generation iPhone Air, iPhone 18, and iPhone 17e were originally planned to launch in spring 2027.
The global price of the iPhone 17 Air when it launches in 2025 starts at US$999 for the 256 GB variant, US$1,199 for the 512 GB variant, and US$1,399 for the 1 TB variant.
