Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 20 next year, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the launch of the first iPhone.
Expectations indicated that this version would carry a qualitative shift in design, most notably a full screen without any openings or notches, with the front camera being moved to the bottom of the screen, a technology that most leading Android phones have not yet achieved in an integrated manner.

According to a new leak from China via Weibo, Apple may not be able to offer this feature at the moment.
The leaker known as “Fixed Focus Digital” indicated that the company is facing technical difficulties in developing the integrated front camera under the screen, which may postpone the realization of the full screen dream.

Continuing the current design with Dynamic Island
Based on this information, the iPhone 20 is expected to retain the current front camera design, which relies on a “pill-shaped” upper opening.
Apple had introduced this design for the first time with the iPhone 14 Pro under the name Dynamic Island, to become an essential part of the use experience in modern versions.
This means that the full screen without any interruption may not be achieved in this generation, despite great expectations.
Gradual steps towards full screen
On the other hand, other reports indicate that Apple is working to introduce Face ID technology under the screen in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series.
This step would reduce the size of the front opening, so that it is limited only to the camera, which represents a transitional stage towards a full screen design in the future.
Launch date and possible changes
Reports indicate that Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 20 in 2027, coinciding with the phone’s 20th anniversary.
The device is expected to be unveiled in the first half of the year, in a change from the company’s usual launch schedule, which is often in September.
The phone may also be announced alongside another version such as the iPhone 18e, while the Pro and Pro Max versions are expected to be launched in the second half of the same year.
Technical challenges postpone the dream
These leaks reflect the extent of the technical challenges that Apple faces in developing advanced display technologies, especially with regard to hiding the front camera under the screen without affecting image quality.
Although the idea of a full-screen phone is still a major goal for the company, achieving it in a practical and effective manner may require more time and development.
Will the awaited revolution be postponed?
Between high expectations and realistic challenges, it seems that the iPhone 20 may not deliver the design revolution that users have been waiting for.
However, the incremental improvements Apple is working on suggest that getting to a full-screen iPhone is not a matter of “if,” but rather “when.”
