India T20 World Cup Squad: Samson In, Gill Out – Full List

ICC announces Indian squad for Men’s T20 World Cup Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team. Sanju Samson will be the opener along with Abhishek Sharma. Shubman Gill, who continues to be in poor form, could not make it to the team.

Axar Patel appointed as vice-captain. The 15-member squad includes Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh. Ishan returned to the Indian team after two years.

The selectors’ meeting was held at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia then announced the team in a press conference. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also attended the press conference.

Shubman Gill, who was the team’s vice-captain until the South Africa series, was dropped due to his poor form. Jitesh Sharma is also not part of the 15-member squad. The same team will also participate in the T20 series against New Zealand.

The World Cup is on February 7

The T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will begin on February 7 and the final will be held on March 20. Defending champions India are in Group A of the tournament, which also includes United States of America (USA), Namibia, Netherlands and Pakistan.

Team India will play their group matches at four different stadiums. Indian team’s group matches will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), R. It will be held at Premadasa Stadium (Colombo) and Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad).
