Spouses with no or low income can currently be insured in the family insurance without paying any contributions. SPD co-leader Lars Klingbeil, among others, had spoken out in favor of abolishing this regulation. Commission presents reform proposals
In view of ever-increasing billions in spending and rising contributions, a commission of experts presented the first recommendations for a reform of statutory health insurance on Monday. Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU) set up the committee in the fall.
The black-red coalition is aiming for quick decisions to contain costs and increase efficiency in order to avoid the additional contributions of the insured being increased again. A financial gap of at least 14 billion euros is expected for 2027.
