Gaza bombs continue to fall, causing dozens of deaths, despite the efforts of the United States and Qatar to mediate a respite between Israel and Hamas.
The most bloody episode of this umpteenth day of war occurred in a popular internet Café on the promenade, also frequented by journalists in the western part of the strip: at least twenty -one victims. A raid that followed a new EDF evacuation order for the northern coastal strip, where Gaza City is located. The signal that military operations have expanded further.
“I was going to the Café to use the internet, a few meters away, when there was a violent explosion. I ran on the spot. There were my colleagues, people who meet every day. The scene was horrible: bodies, blood, screams everywhere,” he told BBC Aziz al-Ampi, a roomman of a local production house. The images that seem to show the moment in a missile, apparently launched by an Israeli hunt, affects the area of the Al-Baqa cafeteria, which had become a well-known space for journalists, activists and workers remotely, offering access to the web, seats and work space in front of the sea, have been spread on social networks. The Israeli army did not provide immediate comments on the incident.
The bombing on the Internet Café took place after a night wave of Raid on various areas of the strip, while the fire clashes between Hamas’s army and militias continued, which according to the local authorities caused at least 48 deaths in 24 hours. In the middle of the humanitarian crisis continuously worsening.
The increasingly massive orders of evacuation of civilians, together with the raids, seem part of an Israeli plan to expand the most deep terrestrial offensive, according to the government’s intentions, to definitively defeat Hamas.
At the same time in the local media, speculations circulate that some generals would be close to concluding the operations, while many former commanders would be concerned that the continuation of the Gaza campaign leads to a war of attrition from indefinite times. In this context, the pressure of the opposition to Netanyahu are multiply so that a new cease is reached. On Friday Donald Trump has assured that the truce was close and continues to work for a visit to the White House of Netanyahu, which could take place next week. The dialogue between the parties has actually been taken for a few days, but a turning point is still expected.
In addition to Gaza, the tension remains high also in the West Bank, where the colonists’ assaults on the military continued.
In the last accident, the commander of the base of the regional brigade Binyamin was targeted, accused of being a “traitor”. The officer was part of the group of soldiers attacked by the settlers during an attempt to enter a military area closed near the Palestinian village of Kafr Malik.
Netanyahu also condemned the latter “acts of violence and anarchy”, while the Minister of Defense Katz convened a meeting of all the security agencies to evaluate the situation, which had begun to degenerate immediately after October 7, 2023.
Given the situation in the Palestinian territories, the Jewish state tries to ease the tension with neighboring countries. The government said he was “interested” to stipulate agreements of “peace and normalization” with Lebanon and Syria, in the wake of the Abraham agreements already signed with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrein and Morocco. Minister Saar said this, with the punctualization that the heights of the Golan “will remain part of” Israel. With Damascus, the dialogue has already begun: according to Axios, the Trump administration is conducting “preliminary interviews” with both sides on this dossier, while an executive order will be signed to the White House to put an end to the penalties to the new Al Jolani Syria, keeping those on Assad and his collaborators.
