FSS, GA’s unhealthy insurance sales

The Financial Supervisory Service announced on the 3rd that it will continue to improve the system for factors that cause unhealthy insurance sales, and respond strictly according to the principle of independence of order damage or consumer damage.
The domestic insurance market is limiting the increase in import insurance premiums as it enters maturity. Import premiums, which were 252.8 trillion won in 2022, amounted to 237.6 trillion won in 2023 and 241.4 trillion won last year.
Unhealthy sales are continuing because it is not easy to secure new growth engines due to changes in demographic and economic growth such as low birth rates and aging.
In particular, there is concern about consumer damage due to excessive performance competition and weak internal control of GA, which has become a core sales channel. As of the end of last year, among the 651,000 designers, the GA was 289,000, accounting for about 44.3%.
Due to excessive fees for the first and second year contract designers and GA, there are cases of consumer damage due to the lack of distorted information or explanation along with problems such as unfair hwan, frequent designers, and deterioration of maintenance. Recently, some GAs have been involved in illegal activities such as similar number of lenders.
The financial authorities are providing guidelines for third -party risk management by insurers. The five core checklists will be shared with insurance companies by sharing five key checklists, including confirmation of sanctions, establishing and operating appropriate designers, branch control levels, sensitivity information management capabilities, and poor business sound indicators.
In addition, the financial authorities are promoting the establishment of the ‘GA Operation Risk Evaluation System’, which evaluates the level of sale of GA risk management of insurers.
In addition, the company has decided to reorganize the insurance sales fee, which includes the establishment of maintenance fees and comparisons and explanation of commissions for large GA designers in order to limit the limit of fees and to expand the salary.
In addition, the FSS has introduced a regular inspection system for the super -large GA, which has more than 3,000 designers since last year. In the case of insurers, the company has regularized the linkage and simultaneous inspection of its subsidiary GA or large GA.
The FSS plans to take advantage of the built inspection system to focus on inspection resources on matters that can be connected to consumer damage such as internal control of insurers and GA.
