Friday After Dedication Sunday: Liturgical Calendar

Giovanni 14, 2-7

At that time. The Lord Jesus said: «In my Father‘s house there are many mansions. If not, would I have ever said to you: “I’m going to prepare a place for you”? When I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that where I am you may also be.

And of the place where I go, you know the way.”

Thomas said to him: «Lord, we do not know where you are going; How can we know the way?”.

Jesus said to him: «I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

If you have known me, you will also know my Father: from now on you know him and have seen him.”

Jesus is the turning point for those who follow him reading key for those who want to reach the Father. This week’s Word is clearly indicating this to us.

I imagine and understand Thomas as wary and curious to understand the words of Jesus… he who then needed to see the concrete wounds of his Master.
Jesus with his closeness to man shows us that he is there VIA. The saints clearly show us that love for the Eucharist is the path that leads us to God; not necessarily authors of sensational gestures, but protagonists of a daily who with perseverance asks us to love our neighbors, colleagues, companions, family members and, why not, even neighbors we don’t know.
The TRUTH‘ of God is shown to us by Jesus because we are alone with Him!
The recent memory of the deceased reminds us that the VITA to aim for is that of the Kingdom of heaven.

Are we aware that we have a place of our own prepared by Jesus? If we don’t occupy it, it won’t belong to others… we have a great one responsibility and also a huge possibility that must fill us with hope and energy!
Do we have a place for Jesus in our hearts? Do we seek and cultivate his friendship to stay close to him and to follow the directions for our journey? Are we looking for travel companions to help us get to know Jesus? Do we know how to present ourselves, in turn, as good travellers?
