Fix AMD FSR 4 Issues | Crimson Desert – Guide

by drbyos

If you’re playing Crimson Desert on PC using a Radeon RX 9000 series card with AMD FSR 4 technology, you may have noticed that the image quality isn’t what it should be. In many cases, the graphics look worse than the native resolution or even other upscaling solutions, and sometimes the issue goes so far as to affect vision to the point of making the experience nearly unplayable.

Image quality problems

As of March 20, 2026, there is no official solution to this issue. Technical analyzes indicate that the reason is due to a defect in the application of the “subpixel jitter” technology. This flaw is clearly visible in static scenes, where the artificial intelligence fails to reconstruct frames correctly, resulting in a shaky and poor-detailed image that hides the beauty of the game’s true visual assets.

“Rain distortion” defect and loss of vision

The most serious problem for FSR 4 users currently occurs during rainy weather, where the image suffers from blurring and severe distortions—and in some cases, the rain completely disappears from the screen! Not only does this destroy the sense of realism, it makes navigating the world extremely annoying, and even impossible in some extreme conditions.

Proposed temporary solutions

Until an update comes out from Pearl Abyss (the Day 1 update did not address the issue), you can rely on these solutions to mitigate the damage:

  • Go to Settings > Graphics > Upscaling, and switch from FSR 4 to FSR 3.1. You may lose some frames, but you’ll get a more stable image—especially during rain.
  • Because rainy weather puts a significant strain on performance, your device may struggle with native resolution. In this case, FSR 3.1 is a better balanced option than Native.
  • If you prefer FSR 4’s performance in clear skies, and don’t want to constantly switch between settings, you can simply sleep or use a campfire to change the time—often the rain will stop when Cliff wakes up, and the problem will go away temporarily.
  • Installing the Adrenalin 26.3.1 WHQL driver for the game may help resolve the issue for some users.

Ultimately, these issues are purely technical and should be fixed soon, but until then… you may have to dodge the rain instead of enjoying it!
