Absent during the trial, which was held on Monday January 12, 2026 at the Dijon police court (Côte-d’Or), a forty-year-old was fined 250 euros for having attacked his former cellmate in front of the La Chartreuse hospital center (CHS), reports The Public Good.
“I had already taken slaps”
“I’m going to kill you, you dirty pointer.”the defendant allegedly declared on July 18, 2023 before hitting his former cellmate on the shoulder and behind the head. The two individuals met in prison, before meeting again later within the CHS. “I had already been slapped at the time”indicated the victim.
The 43-year-old defendant, for his part, admitted the beatings but denied the threats. He also assured that he did not know the victim. According to our colleagues, no psychiatric expertise was carried out because he did not go to the appointments. The prosecution, however, described a personality “violent and unstable”. In addition to the fine, the defendant will have to pay 300 euros for moral damage, as well as 500 euros for lawyer’s fees.
