Still looking for funds to finance its relaunch, eighteen months after its takeover as a cooperative production company by its employeesthe Duralex glass factory opened a solidarity fund online on Monday January 5, allowing everyone to make a donation to support its innovation projects.
An initiative inspired by the unexpected success of the citizen fundraising operation launched at the beginning of November 2025 aimed at all savers: in less than forty-eight hours, more than 21,000 people had expressed their desire to invest in the La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin (Loiret) company, for promises totaling 19.8 million euros.
However, the operation is not painless for Duralex: these investments, through equity securities, do not give rise to the right to a share or voting rights, but are still remunerated at 8% per year. Despite the scale of the intentions expressed, Duralex did not take the risk of raising more than 7 million euros – still above the initial ceiling, set at 5 million euros. In order to frustrate as little goodwill as possible, the company still chose to cap investments at 1,000 euros per person so that a greater number of savers can contribute. “But, at that time, we were gently teased by lots of people who told us: “We don’t want to raise funds or collect interest, we just want to help you””confides François Marciano, general director of Duralex.
