Artigas, Paysandú, Rivera and Lavalleja were 17 raids on Wednesday for an investigation made by the police against a band that is dedicated to granting illegal loans, known as “Drop a drop” and of which Uruguayans and foreigners participate.
There were 17 people arrested, including 14 foreigners and three Uruguayans, who are now available to the Prosecutor’s Office of Rivera 3rd.
The maneuver for which they are investigated is to give money to people who are in a vulnerable financial situation, and then collect daily installments with interests and, sometimes, under threats and extortion.
During the raids, the police seized almost $ 800 thousand, 2,398 reais, USD 264, 30 cell phones, 8 motorcycles, notebooks with charges, advertising cards of loans and bank cards, among other objects relevant to research.
Research and raids were carried out by complex facts, interpol and intelligence, with support from the headquarters of the departments and the Republican Guard.
