ATLANTA — Walt Weiss tasted his first walk-off victory as Braves manager when Dominic Smith drilled a grand slam to conclude a thrilling 6-2 win over the Royals on Saturday night at Truist Park.
Drake Baldwin drew a walk off Carlos Estévez and Matt Olson followed with a single. Mike Yastrzemski, who finished the 2025 season with Kansas City, further fueled the rally with a one-out single that scored Baldwin with Atlanta’s first run of the night. Michael Harris II’s bases-loaded comebacker off Estévez’s foot tied the game.
This set the stage for Smith, who drilled his game-ending grand slam over the right-field wall. This was Smith’s first hit (and third career grand slam) for the Braves, who signed him to a Minor League contract at the start of Spring Training.
