Mystery Solved: Virgin Mary Statue’s Tears of Blood Linked to Owner

In a surprising turn of events, the decade-long mystery surrounding a Virgin Mary statue in Italy that allegedly shed tears of blood has finally been unraveled. People from across the globe have flocked to Carmiano in Italy to witness the Madonna di Trevignano, a statue reportedly possessing supernatural powers.

The Phenomenon and Its Owner

Since 2016, Gisella Cardia, a resident of Carmiano, has claimed that the Madonna di Trevignano began weeping tears of blood every third day of the month. This statue, housed in a blue case on a hillside, has reportedly given prophecies and performed miraculous feats, such as feeding indefinitely large groups of people.

Cardia, who bought the statue from a Catholic pilgrimage site in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, maintains that the Madonna di Trevignano also performed other miracles, including providing endless food items such as pizza and gnocchi.

Vatican’s Investigation and Scientific Inquiry

However, the Roman Catholic Church has consistently dismissed these claims as fraudulent. In 2023, the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a decree based on a report from the Diocese of Civita Castellana, which found no supernatural elements in the statue.

“It is clear that it is not supernatural. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, Mother of the Church and our Mother, restore peace and serenity in view of the spiritual good of the faithful of the parish of Trevignano Romano and of the people of God who are throughout the Diocese of Civita Castellana,” the Vatican stated.

The DNA Breakthrough

Recent scientific evidence has provided a clearer picture. After suspicions were raised, a DNA test was conducted to determine the source of the alleged blood. The results, released on February 13 by Corriere della Sera, indicate that the red liquid found on the statue’s eyes matched Cardia’s genetic profile.
