A new initiative is providing a space for individuals and families affected by dementia to connect and share experiences. The “dementia table,” a concept developed by local village supporters in collaboration with network dementia, offers a monthly meeting to discuss topics related to dementia. According to Loes van Melis, Coordinator Steunpunt Informal Care of Onis Welzijn, the goal is to provide support and answer questions in a welcoming surroundings.
The dementia table takes place every third Monday of the month, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. “Everyone is welcome with all the questions,” says Van Melis. The initiative also includes the opening of a “dementia strain,” the details of which are available in an accompanying video.
