Claire Forlani: Brad Pitt & Her Iconic Roles

by drbyos

The cinema of the 90s was a golden age for romantic comedies, which managed to thrill and win the hearts of the audience thanks to exceptional actors. Among these films was “Meet Joe Black“, with the unforgettable Brad Pitt in the role of Death, alongside the actress Claire Forlani in the role of Susan.

“Meet Joe Black” was probably the most famous film in which the British actress starred. This is how Claire Forlani’s career has developed more than 25 years after the release of the memorable film directed by Martin Brest.

Forlani was born in London, her mother Barbara is an English artist and her father Pier Luigi Forlani is a music manager from Ferrara, Italy. At the age of 11, Forlani entered the Art School in London “ArtsEd”, where he began to study acting. During his six years at the school, he also studied ballet, which led to stage performances in The Nutcracker and Orpheus in the Underworld. At the age of 23, she moved with her family to San Francisco, which turned out to be a turning point in her acting career.

At that time, Hollywood gave Claire a very warm welcome, showering her with several tempting offers. In the early 1990s, she managed to achieve great popularity thanks to the TV series “JFK: Reckless Youth”, the films “Police Academy: Mission to Moscow” and “Mall Cheerleaders”. In 1996, Forlani played Sean Connery’s daughter in the film The Rock. Filmed in Basquiat directed by Julian Schnabel.

After expanding her biography with other interesting experiences, comes what will mark her life forever: the role of partner of Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins in “Meeting Joe Black”. Back then, we all wanted to be Claire Forlani, or rather Susan Parrish, the young daughter of media mogul Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), who falls in love with Joe (Brad Pitt), the incarnation of Death.

Her role was memorable in a film that is still remembered fondly and nostalgically, especially by teenagers and young adults of the time. Forlani herself, quoted by The Sun newspaper, said: “It’s nice when people stop me. When they talk about movies from decades ago, there’s something very cool about that, it’s nice that they’re still watching them.”

Recalling her unforgettable role, she added to the Daily Telegraph: “They were such a brilliant group of people, so funny, so nice to watch and all so talented.”

And what about the famous kiss scene with Brad Pitt? She jokes about it, saying, “Brad and I literally ate every brand of peppermint while we were shooting this love scene, which went on for days. There wasn’t a brand we didn’t try. Oh, I remember that. I remember not being able to look at peppermint for about a year after we shot it.”

After her huge success in “Meet Joe Black”, Claire Forlani appeared in many film projects in the late 90s and early 2000s, but none of them were as impressive as the film in which she starred with Pitt.

Since 2005, the fame and popularity gained thanks to the golden era of the 90s have become increasingly distant memories for Claire Forlani, although she continues to exercise her talent in Hollywood circles, the projects in which she participates have much less resonance.
