MESSINA (ITALPRESS) – In Capo d’Orlando, in the Messina area, the Carabinieri officer on leave Antonino Mazzone, born in 1921, celebrated his one hundred and fourth birthdaysurrounded by friends and relatives. For this special event, the closeness of the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Messina and of the Company of Sant’Agata di Militello could not be missing, who honored Antonino with a cake decorated with the emblem of the Army, sharing with him the moment in which he symbolically blew out his 104 candles.
On the occasion of the convivial event, the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Messina, Colonel Lucio Arcidiacono, together with the Commander of the Company of Sant’Agata di Militello, Major Maurizio Blasa, presented Officer Mazzone with a crystal pouch, accompanied by a letter of greetings sent by the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Army Corps General Salvatore Luongo. The veteran, visibly moved, did not miss the opportunity to remember with clarity and sympathy some anecdotes of his service within the ranks of the force, recalling above all the many years he lived in Palermo, at the Judicial Police Section of the Court, being part – among other things – of the pool of judge Rocco Chinnici.
Colonel Arcidiacono underlined that the officer Mazzone “in reaching this exceptional goal, with extraordinary energy and clarity, it represents a precious heritage in terms of memory and values, constituting an example for all generations of young Carabinieri”.
