The only player from Cape Verde who is currently still playing in the Eredivisie is Jamiro Monteiro. The 31-year-old midfielder has been wearing the PEC Zwolle shirt since last year. In the last international match against Libya (3-3) he was good for an assist.

Garry Mendes Rodrigues
The most famous name in the selection is perhaps that of Garry Mendes Rodrigues (34). The experienced winger has previously played for top clubs in the south-east of Europe such as Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Olympiacos and PAOK Saloniki. He has already worn the shirt of the national team 55 times.
Dailon Livramento
Dailon Livramento is one of the great heroes of Cape Verde. The former MVV striker mainly owes this to his winning goal against Cameroon last month. Because of that goal, his country now has a great starting position heading into the final round.

Deroy in Laros Duarte
Brothers Deroy (26) and Laros (28) Duarte both left the Eredivisie last year. Deroy went to Bulgaria, Laros to Hungary. In the national team, the football brothers are a bit closer together, although the midfielders are also each other’s competitors.
Sidny Lopes Cabral
Brother Rodny played one international match for Cape Verde in 2019. Sidny Lopes Cabral’s tally is now at 5, with two goals. He was good for one of the three goals in the 3-3 draw with Libya last Wednesday.

State of affairs
A win at home against Eswatini (also known as Swaziland) on Monday at 6 p.m. will be enough. The bottom group in group D of the African qualifying cycle was previously defeated 0-2. If Cape Verde does not win, then we have to hope that Cameroon does not beat Angola. In the worst case, Cape Verde will be sentenced to play in the play-offs.
