Like the majority of private health establishments, the Oxford clinic in Cannes is starting a hard strike starting this Saturday.
The movement will be followed by 100% of professionals, including surgical specialties (hand, spine, ophthalmology, etc.) as well as anesthetists-resuscitators.
If the first reductions in appointments began on Wednesday, this weekend marks a cessation of services, for a period of at least five days.
“Most of us will be in Paris to join our colleagues and demonstrate, informs Professor Jean-Christophe Orban, anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the clinic and president of the establishment medical commission. This strike is a response to the recently adopted finance bill. A certain number of measures are particularly irritating and go neither in the direction of patients nor in that of liberal medicine. »
Alarming findings
The findings drawn up by the practitioner are numerous and considered alarming: “We find it unacceptable that the director of Cnam (National Health Insurance Fund) can decide alone the amount of conventional rates for any sector. We refuse to accept effective price reductions of up to -15% for social security rate acts since 1is November for certain imaging specialties. These decisions can jeopardize jobs and the financial balance of many medical practices – which are, remember, truly small businesses, with a large payroll and investments amounting to hundreds of thousands of euros – and therefore represent a major risk for access to care. »
The public sector less affected
In July, employees at the Oxford clinic had already led a strike, denouncing “a lack of staff putting patients in danger”.
« This is not what started this new movementspecifies Professor Orban. But there is a logical connection. »
From today, and at least for the next five days, only continuity of care will be ensured.
New patients are invited to dial 15 to find out about available health facilities.
« The public sector, which supports us, should be a little less affected by the movement, even if internal staff should also take part.. »
In this context, requisitions will be put in place and emergencies will continue to operate.
