Canadian Heating Fail: Apartment Frozen Solid | Ice Kingdom Story

by drbyos

A man from the Canadian city of Trois-Rivières, which is located in the east of the country in the province of Quebec, moved out of an apartment in a local three-story house at the beginning of the year, but before the final bill came, he still wanted to save on heating when he no longer lives in the apartment. Therefore, he turned off the heating completely and left.

However, the severe frosts that prevail in the area caused the heating to burst, so water started pouring into the apartment and not long after that the unheated apartment began to freeze. The result was literally an ice chamber, where a roughly thirty-meter layer of ice formed on the floor, and ice creations also appeared on the walls, ceiling and objects inside the apartment.

Facility manager Jacques Nault from Logispro Mauritius, which owns the building, did not hide his surprise or concern. “There’s water everywhere, so it’s going to grow mold. We have to dry it out and renovate it with whatever the insurance will cover,” he shook his head in disbelief at the completely frozen apartment.

At the same time, he added that people resort to similar actions as a result of the constantly increasing cost of living, but turning off the heating in winter is not a good idea. If only because, according to him, the saving on heating does not represent a fundamental difference.

The only positive side of the whole thing can be the fact that the frozen apartment was found relatively early, when Jacques Nault was in the neighboring apartment, and also that the other two units were not damaged in any way by the recklessness of the former neighbor, the CTV News channel reported with a link to the Noovo Info website.
