“This offering is a symbol of restoring balance between the human world (lino tau) and the world of spirits (lino to mate),” explained Benyamin.

There are also moral sanctions or lolo tau that Panjdi must bear. Moral sanctions were imposed for the 46-year-old comic’s responsibility towards the Torajan people and restoration of honor amounting to IDR 2 billion.

The cash will later be used for Toraja community activities.

“The money will be used for traditional activities, cultural education and the restoration of Toraja traditional symbols which have been contaminated as a result of Pandji’s statement,” stressed Benyamin.

Benyamin Rante emphasized that if there was no good faith from Pandji to communicate about customary sanctions, he might receive heavier sanctions.

“If he doesn’t want to, then there will be sanctions through people who can communicate with other dimensions through the Ma’maman ritual or to get a curse,” he stressed.

TAST also officially subpoenaed Pandji. He was asked to come directly to Toraja to carry out customary sanctions.

“We have sent a summons or legal and customary warning to Brother Pandji Pragiwaksono and it was received via email. So today the limit is 3×24 for the summons we send,” said Benyamin.

Traditional institutions assess that Pandji’s jokes have hurt the sacred values in Toraja rituals which have been preserved for generations. TAST emphasized that the steps to impose sanctions were not merely a form of anger, but rather a traditional mechanism to maintain balance and honor of the Torajan people.
