Brignone Injury Return | Olympics Snow Update

Rome, 26 November 2025 – 237 days after the injury suffered during the Italian Championships, Federica Brignone takes an important step forward in the recovery process in view of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. On the day of the lighting of the Olympic flame, the Italian champion returned to the snow of Cervinia, starting a new phase of rehabilitation with test laps on touring skis, accompanied by federal technicians.

Last April 3, during the second run of the giant slalom of the Italian Championships in Moena, Federica Brignone he suffered a displaced multi-fragmentary fracture of the tibial plateau and the head of the fibula of the left leg, as well as a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. After completing the first part of the rehabilitation at J-Medical in Turin, the alpine skiing champion received the green light from the FISI Medical Commission to begin work on the track.

This afternoon, the Italian Winter Sports Federation announced that Brignone carried out some laps on touring skis in Cervinia, wearing the blue suit. This test did not have a competitive nature but it was a fundamental step for “add stability and confidence“in the healing process, as specified by the federation. In the coming weeks the athlete will alternate loading sessions in the gym with further days on the track, in a recovery program that continues according to the established plans.

Towards Milan-Cortina 2026: a goal that is still possible

With the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics scheduled for 6 to 22 February 2026, Brignone’s return to the snow represents an encouraging sign for the Italian team and for alpine skiing enthusiasts. The champion, winner of two overall World Cups and multiple medalist at Olympic and world level, aims to recover in time to represent Italy in the Olympic event which will take place on home soil.

The rehabilitation process remains challenging and it will be essential to evaluate the physical response to the new stresses on the track. Federica Brignone, already the undisputed protagonist of the White Circus with 37 victories in the World Cup and medals won in the last World Championships and Olympics, has shown great determination in overcoming the difficulties linked to the injury.

The resumption of training on the snow, albeit gradually, marks a key moment in the preparation of the Aosta Valley champion, who is preparing to return as a protagonist on the slopes in view of an Olympic season of great importance for Italian sport.
