Argentina Mpox Case: First Local Clade Ib Infection Confirmed

In Argentina, health authorities announced the first case of local transmission of the clade Ib mpox virus in the country.

This case concerns a man residing in Buenos Aires. The latter did not travel abroad recently, but reported having sexual intercourse with several partners, including travelers, before the onset of symptoms. The patient is currently being monitored on an outpatient basis and his condition is improving. Contact tracing has begun.
