It is difficult to ignore the figure of Antonio Pacheco. Not even the heavy rains of Tropical Storm Eta could erase his name.

Impossible to forget three Olympic medals, 2,356 hits, 284 home runs, 1,304 runs batted in and his 344 offensive average.

He was without a doubt one of the best Cuban athletes of the last century. One of those that stay among us forever and without impositions.

The sport of balls and strikes is linked to the idiosyncrasy of those born on this Island, beyond what the protagonists decide to do with their lives.

The legacy of the indomitable and irreplaceable second baseman within the Cuban teams, champion as a player and also as a manager with Santiago, was put into doubt, and social networks immediately lit up, in the midst of the delay of the All-Star Game. , scheduled for last weekend and postponed due to Tropical Storm Eta.

A German media outlet becomes a hot topic by releasing a virtual interview satirizing the homework of Jürgen Klinsmann (59, Germany), who was fired as the coach of the Korean national soccer team.

On the 20th (local time), the daily Tagess Zeitung (Taz) published a virtual interview article entitled “I will never go to Pyongyang again!” where Klinsmann said, “I have now become too American,” and “Nowadays, office workers work from home, “Time is not as important as it used to be,” he was quoted as saying.

In the article, Klinsmann said, ‘The director must be on site. In response to the criticism that Thomas Tuchel (Bayern Munich coach) also does not train in the Maldives, he said, “Tuchel is in Munich and it can be tolerated. Do you know what it’s like in Korea? I don’t know, but I can guess.”

The media mocked Klinsmann for not even distinguishing between North and South Korea, saying, “There are almost no flights between Los Angeles and Pyongyang,” and, “If you’re interested in the South, go down there your himself. It’s not far.”

Afghan cricketers banned from UAE T20 league 2024-02-22 00:22:02

Afghanistan cricketer Noor Ahmed has been banned from the UAE ILT20 league for violating the contract. He was banned for one year by the franchise organizers for breaching his contract with Sharjah Warriors.

Noor signed with Sharjah Warriors to play in the first season of ILT20 2023. The franchise later offered him a one-year contract extension. Noor did not sign the retention notice.

Instead of the league in the United Arab Emirates, he moved to South Africa’s SA20 Noor. This Afghan pacer played for Durban Super Giants there. This is the main reason why the organizers banned Noor.

A statement from the ILT20 said Noor, 19, was served with a retention notice ahead of the second season ‘on the same terms and conditions as in the terms of the player contract’. But he refused to sign it. The Warriors later contacted the organizers directly and sought their intervention to settle the matter.

Noor was banned for a year after discussing the matter.

Earlier in December last year, another Afghan cricketer, Naveen Ul Haq, was also banned by the UAE franchise for the same reason. His ban was for 20 months.
