AI vs Intelligence: Is Artificial Intelligence Truly Intelligent?

Viewpoint

This is what ORF presenter Viola Wort’s guests say in the Easter Monday edition of the program “Blickwinkel – Thoughts on the Holiday”. Martin Herfurt and Harald Russegger are two IT experts in the studio who deal intensively with the topics of IT security, AI and the consequences: on April 6th at 6 p.m. on ORF Radio Salzburg.

We can hardly deal with the topic of AI, i.e. artificial intelligence, anymore. AI has been dominating the headlines for months and actually years. Whether artificial intelligence also determines everyday life currently depends on the area in which you work.

Will AI replace your own job?

But each and every one of us has points of contact. Even if it’s just the prospect of the job you do changing or possibly being lost altogether. Many future scenarios are already being outlined. But is it the right picture that you are creating?

Current cinema tip from guests on the topic: “Good luck, have fun, don’t die!”

Viola Words talks about this with two experts who deal intensively with the topics of IT security, AI and the consequences: Martin Herfurt has an IT security company and organizes IT security conferences to support small and medium-sized businesses on this topic. Artificial love?

People now have a kind of relationship with chatbots. But these devices flatter and rub the wool over your eyes, says cyberpsychologist Harald Russegger. There is a risk that people will lose important relationship skills and that is a danger to society. IT security expert Martin Herfurt is of the opinion that other skills are lost through the use of AI, programming for example.

“AI is not intelligent”

Both experts agree that when it comes to artificial intelligence, we are not dealing with intelligence. The term is simply wrong. You can find out which term they would choose instead in “Blickwinkel – Thoughts on the Holiday” on Easter Monday from 6 p.m. on ORF Radio Salzburg.
