A solemn event was held in the Concert Hall named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, organized by the Union of Composers of the Republic in connection with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous composer, conductor, teacher, public figure, People’s Artist of the Republic, laureate of the State Prize, holder of the Order of “Shohret”, Professor Suleiman Aleskerov , Day.Az reported on Thursday.
The event was opened with an opening speech by the Chairman of the Union of Composers, People’s Artist, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Frangiz Alizadeh. She noted that “in accordance with the order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the composer Suleyman Alesgarov, various events dedicated to his life and work are being held at the concert venues of the republic, works that are especially loved by performers and listeners are performed – fragments from musical comedies, compositions for Azerbaijani folk instruments, romances, songs. Suleyman Aleskerov was an active member of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan for many years, and served on its Board. I would especially like to emphasize the fact that, being from Shusha, S. Aleskerov was the first Chairman of the Shusha branch of the Union of Composers.
