Animal abuse led to a conviction in Toulouse. A man was given community service and banned from keeping an animal. Abused dog found a loving home.
“This case shows that we should not hesitate to alert the police in the event of harm to an animal.” Céline Gardel thus analyzes the conviction handed down this Wednesday against a man who had been denounced by a witness at the beginning of May in Toulouse.
That day, at Place Wilson, this individual was brutal towards a young dog, a Malinois. Beatings violent enough to push a witness to alert the police. The patrols had not found the animal, nor its owner. But the investigation made it possible to follow their leads.
The dog was adopted
Before the criminal court this Wednesday, the man was sentenced: 90 hours of community service and a 2-year ban on keeping an animal. The association “Les 4 Pattounes” obtained 150 euros in damages and 150 euros under article 475-1, for legal costs.
As for the young dog, he had been recovered by the “Les 4 Pattounes” association and entrusted “to caring owners”. “He is in very good shape today,” assures Céline Gardel. This animal defender, and police captain, takes the opportunity to once again recall “the need to warn the 17th, in the event of violent acts on animals. To protect animals and convict violent owners”.
