The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) carried out a sting operation (OTT) against Riau Governor Abdul Wahid (AW). During the OTT, the KPK confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, including cash totaling IDR 1.6 billion.

“The team also secured evidence including a sum of money in rupiah, US dollars and also pounds sterling, which totals around Rp. 1.6 billion,” said KPK spokesman, Budi Prasetyo, to journalists, Tuesday (4/11/2025).

The money in rupiah was secured in Riau. Meanwhile, the American dollar and pound sterling denominations were secured in Jakarta.

“(US dollar bills and pounds sterling were secured) in one of the houses belonging to AW’s brother,” he said.

Budi said the evidence was money that would be handed over to Abdul Wahid. “The money is thought to be part of the handover to regional heads,” he continued.

The KPK suspects that before this OTT was carried out, Abdul Wahid had received other amounts of money. Budi appealed to the Riau Provincial Government to continue making improvements.

“Moreover, if I don’t miscalculate, four times in Riau Province there have been allegations of criminal acts of corruption or corruption which were then handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission,” said Budi.

The OTT against Abdul Wahid occurred on Monday (3/11). In total, 10 people were arrested by the KPK.

The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) has conducted a case this evening and named a suspect in the Riau Governor’s OTT case. However, the announcement of the suspect will be made on Wednesday (5/11).

Previously, PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) opened his voice about his cadre, Abdul Wahid, who was caught in the KPK arrest operation. Cak Imin is waiting for the KPK’s official statement.

“Yeah, let’s wait aja “We will follow what the Corruption Eradication Commission decides,” said Cak Imin at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).

When asked about providing assistance to Abdul Wahid, Cak Imin was reluctant to answer. He said there had been no request so far and would wait for the KPK’s official decision first.

“There has been no request yet,” he explained.
