The premises of the new health center in Saint-Rémy, very modern and spacious, smell new, but they ring hollow for the moment. Not for long. This structure, financed by the Ares* firm and which opened this Wednesday, should be overwhelmed by patient requests in the coming days.
“To be honest, we receive calls every day at the town hall to find out when the center will open,” admits Florence Plissonnier. The mayor of the town of more than 6,000 inhabitants says that there are still many people without a doctor.
Three doctors will arrive by the 1is FEBRUARY
That’s good: this multidisciplinary center will be able to provide this solution, just as it will provide an unscheduled reception solution: “There is a system for making appointments by telephone and soon on the Doctolib website. But it is possible to come without an appointment. I think that will even be the main part of the activity. We are here above all to compensate for the lack of doctors, not to compete. We do the same work as our colleagues,” underline doctors Jean-François Cicala and Bruno Longobardi, former emergency doctors at the public hospital.
For now, they will both be running the store while waiting for the arrival of two other general practitioners on the 1st.is January and an additional one on the 1stis February, before other specialties arrive. Ultimately, the health center should have around sixty employees with state-of-the-art equipment.
The center will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 1 rue des Eduens in Saint-Rémy.
