Minister Mu’ti Launches Seven Awesome Children’s Habits Movement in Indonesia
Jakarta
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has initiated the “Seven Awesome Children’s Habits Movement” aimed at embedding positive traits into the daily lives of Indonesian children.
“Our objective is to cultivate these habits as part of our broader strategy to nurture the national character,” Minister Mu’ti declared on Friday.
The Importance of Positive Habits in Character Development
The Seven Awesome Children’s Habits Movement emphasizes vital practices such as waking up early, engaging in worship, regular exercise, nutritious eating, showing enthusiasm for learning, social interaction, and early bedtime routines.
According to Minister Mu’ti, these daily routines are deeply embedded within the fabric of Indonesian tradition, honoring the nation’s cultural and religious heritage.
“Habits like waking up early, worshipping, exercising, eating healthily, nurturing a love for learning, socializing, and going to bed on time form the bedrock of crafting a robust generation,” explained the minister.
By cultivating these habits, he believes the nation’s youth will develop in all facets—intellectually, physically, and spiritually—while building strong social connections among themselves.
Implementing Positive Habits Across Educational Levels
The movement targets children from early childhood education to high school.
In an effort to stimulate regular physical activity, Minister Mu’ti announced the launch of the Great Indonesian Gymnastics Movement. As parts of the daily pre-class routine, students will engage in morning gymnastics, sing the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” and collectively pray during short 10-minute sessions before school begins.
Minister Mu’ti emphasized, “These pre-class activities are crucial for instilling positive character traits in our children.”
Community Engagement and Social Bonding
The ministry has also worked with the home affairs minister to sign a directive for the establishment of public playgrounds within communities.
“Having these playgrounds will facilitate peer interaction and socialization, enabling children to engage in community activities soaked in noble values,” he highlighted.
